Cranbrook School is a dual-campus independent Anglican early learning, primary and secondary day and boarding school for boys, located in Bellevue Hill, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
The school recently underwent a $125 million upgrade, featuring a new aquatic and fitness centre with a 50-metre swimming pool, theatre, performance rooms, assembly hall, dining area, chapel and 11 new classrooms. The project involved three distinct built components: the academic and liberal arts building, dubbed The Centenary Building, the aquatic centre and an underground car park.
The new facilities are designed to engage the building with its landscape with a partially subterranean construction, featuring sandstone facades and turfed roof surfaces that do not make ideal conditions for mobile signal distribution through the facilities.
The unique design of the building came with its own unique set of challenges. The client did not want to use grid antennas because of the larger visible design. Instead opting for an alternative LPDA antenna that would be less intrusive and aesthetically pleasing.
Being a newly finished building there were minimal access points in the ceiling making the installation a challenge.
The team had to work around staff and students, carefully scheduling the installation so that there were minimal interruptions.
An In-Building Coverage solution was implemented to improve the mobile signal distribution throughout the new facilities. A clustered Cel-Fi system was installed to boost the cellular signal throughout the building. The solution covered Telstra, Optus and Vodafone mobile networks to ensure the staff and students could stay connected in all areas of the building.
The clustered Cel-Fi G41 system was able to improve the signal in all areas of the newly constructed buildings at Cranbrook school. With exceptional voice and data across all three mobile carriers Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.
